Subitizing fun

Miss. Tafa showed us this picture for 3 seconds.
In pairs we were asked to discuss how many owls we saw. Then we all shared back our solutions. Here are our findings;
Regina's Solution "There are 3 owls up, 4 owls in the middle and 3 owls down. And that makes 10 owls."

Regina then showed us her thinking by using beans.

Mathmaticians for the day.

Miss. Tafa then showed us this picture for 3 seconds.

Malaki had the solution sorted. He drew his findings on the board then used the beans to explain his thinking.

Malaki explained that there were 2 up the top and five at the bottom.

Here is his solution. What do you think is it correct?
